Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Alex Vesia has established himself as a critical piece to his team’s bullpen, and his wife, Kayla Vesia, has been by his side the entire way.
In October 2025, however, Alex was forced to step away from the team on the eve of the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays as he and Kayla — who announced her pregnancy with baby No. 1 in April 2025 — address a “family matter,” the Dodgers announced.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the team posted via Instagram. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family and we will provide an update at a later date.”
Manager Dave Roberts told the media that he considered Alex “day-to-day” but was placing no expectations on his trusted southpaw. The team left him off their World Series roster.

Kayla and Alex announced in April 2025 that they were expecting via Instagram as they held up a mock newspaper with the headline “Extra! Extra!” and pictures of a sonogram.
“Baby Vesia coming soon, we are beyond excited for this next chapter!” the caption read.
In November 2025, their excitement turned to grief when they mourned the death of their daughter.
“Sterling Sol Vesia🪽. Our little angel we love you forever & you’re with us always,” the couple wrote via Instagram at the time. “Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”
They Got Married in January 2024
The couple announced their engagement in November 2022 and tied the knot in January 2024.

Kayla has built a strong social media following with more than 80,000 followers on TikTok and 42,000 on Instagram. Her content revolves around her role as an MLB WAG, taking fans through her days at the ballpark and, more recently, postgame celebrations as the Dodgers move forward in the postseason.

Kayla’s TikTok channel is littered with footage from events with other Dodgers spouses, including fundraisers that the group puts on together.
When the Dodgers announced Alex would be away from the team at the start of the World Series, Chelsea Freeman, wife of first baseman Freddie Freeman, took to Instagram to offer her support.
