Scooter Braun Wishes ‘Best’ for Taylor Swift After Masters Deal

Scooter Braun says he wishes Taylor Swift the “best” after she bought back the master recordings of her first six albums.

Swift, 35, spoke emotionally about her achievement during the August 13 edition of the “New Heights” podcast cohosted by boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason. In May, the pop star announced that she now owns her entire music catalog. She’d been devastated when her former record label, Big Machine, sold her masters to Braun, 44, in 2019. He later sold them to Shamrock Capital for $300 million.

On Monday, August 18, TMZ approached Braun in Los Angeles and asked for his take on Swift detailing the saga via “New Heights.”

The ex-music manager said only, “I wish everybody the best.”

Braun was seemingly not interested in reigniting his famous feud with Swift, who felt the sting of betrayal upon the news six years ago that he had acquired her self-titled debut, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation.

Swift publicly slammed the business deal to which she had not been privy.

“All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years,” she said at the time. “Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it. This is my worst case scenario.”

Swift eventually revealed plans to rerecord her early work in an attempt to regain ownership. She went on to make new versions of four out of six albums.

Months after ending her blockbuster Eras Tour in December 2024, Swift reached her triumphant deal with Shamrock, reportedly paying the same amount that the venture capital firm did in 2020.

Travis, 35, celebrated with his girlfriend of nearly two years.

“I knock on the door, he’s playing video games and I’m trying to say it in a normal way …  he, like, puts his headset down … and I think he thought something was wrong,” Swift recalled during her “New Heights” appearance. “You come up and I go, ‘I got all my music back’ and I just absolutely started heaving crying.”

Swift said she “dropped, had no power in my legs to support myself. This changed my life. I can’t believe it still.”
