University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore is making headlines after being fired for having an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member” amid his marriage to wife Kelli Moore.
News broke in December 2025 that Sherrone was let go as the team’s head coach after two seasons when the university found “credible evidence” of the controversial relationship.
“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement at the time. “Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”
Prior to the scandal, Sherrone and his wife were welcomed with open arms by the Michigan staff when he became the head coach in January 2024, following six years with the organization as an offensive team coach. (He replaced Jim Harbaugh, who is now coaching the Los Angeles Chargers.)

“We are thrilled to have Sherrone and his wife, Kelli, and the entire Moore family step into this new role for our football program and university community,” the university said in a press release at the time.

Kelli Moore Married Sherrone Moore in 2015
Sherrone proposed to Kelli in December 2014, and the couple tied the knot in July 2015.

Kelli and Sherrone share three daughters, Shiloh, Solei and Sadie, according to his Michigan Football bio. Shiloh was born in 2019, and Solei joined their family in 2022. Sadie’s birthdate has not been publicly shared.
“Our daughters don’t care about the outcome of the games, they just want daddy to sit down and read them a book when he gets home … and that’s what he does,” Kelli once said about her kids and husband, according to a post shared by the Broyles Award social media account in November 2025.

Kelli Moore Was a Staple at Sherrone Moore’s Games
Kelli was a fixture at her husband’s football games throughout their relationship. She posed for photos with the Central Michigan Chippewas football team in 2017, according to social media. Once Sherrone started coaching at the University of Michigan the following year, Kelli began being spotted on the sideline and in the stands at the Big House with their children.

Kelli has her Instagram and X pages set to private, but according to her X bio, she is a “Jesus follower, Coach Moore’s wife, mom, and 🏳️🌈 [LGBTQ+] ally.”
