Ellen DeGeneres is pulling back the curtain — literally — on her New England Country home with wife Portia de Rossi.
In a video shared via Instagram on Sunday, October 19, DeGeneres and de Rossi’s puppy Sport and dog Kid were seen running around the pair’s living room. “Sport teaches Kid how to play,” DeGeneres, 67, wrote over the video.
“They’ve finally figured it out. We’ve all been sad since losing Augie,” DeGeneres captioned the video, referring to the couple’s late dog, who died in May. “Sport has brought so much joy into the house and it makes us so happy to see Kid play again, even though he has a very unique style of play.”
While documenting the pooches’ antics, DeGeneres showed off the ceiling-high windows with a view of the Cotswolds. In the living room, DeGeneres and de Rossi, 52, placed a large area rug with a glass table on top. Across from the windows, a dining room table sits in front of a staircase that leads into another room.
DeGeneres and de Rossi, who tied the knot in 2008, relocated to the English countryside in 2024. The next year, DeGeneres got candid about the couple’s decision to move across the pond.
During a live conversation with English broadcaster Richard Bacon in July, DeGeneres confirmed the pair resided in the U.K. because of President Donald Trump’s reelection. While DeGeneres and de Rossi were initially planning on spending three or four months per year in the U.K. at a “part time house,” they had a change of heart.
“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in,’” DeGeneres recalled of Trump, 79. “And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.’”
While reflecting on their move, DeGeneres gushed that her quieter life and change of pace with de Rossi is “absolutely beautiful.”
“We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture — everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life,” DeGeneres said. “It’s clean. Everything here is just better — the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.”
She continued, “We moved here in November, which was not the ideal time, but I saw snow for the first time in my life. We love it here. Portia flew her horses here, and I have chickens, and we had sheep for about two weeks.”
In Us Weekly’s August cover story, sources shared that DeGeneres is content in her new home. The property includes a 10,000 square-foot home called Hiaven, which the pair bought for a reported $26 million.
“It’s a different lifestyle for her,” an insider said at the time. “She’s very chill and in her element.”
With the country living, the source shared that DeGeneres has been “farming and gardening and taking care of her animals.” The insider added, “Those close to her have never seen her happier.”
