Alix Earle wanted to keep her debut Dancing With the Stars performance a “surprise” before boyfriend Braxton Berrios saw it himself.
“Braxton has been so supportive, but I didn’t show him the routine or anything,” Earle, 24, exclusively told Us Weekly after the season 34 premiere on Tuesday, September 16. “I wanted to keep it a surprise.”
The TikTok star, who has been dating the pro football player, 29, since 2023, said Berrios “kept asking” her what the routine would be — but she wanted to keep it a mystery. (Earle previously revealed that Berrios likely wouldn’t be able to cheer her on in person due to his busy NFL schedule.)
“I told him he was gonna have to tune in and see,” Earle teased. “I haven’t gotten the chance to talk to him yet just because we’ve been running around after the show. I’m excited to call him and see what he thinks.”
When DWTS season 34 debuted on Tuesday, Earle performed “Circus” by Britney Spears with her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. The duo received a score of 13 out of 20.
While Earle was a little nervous before the premiere, she revealed that the experience actually “exceeded [her] expectations.”

“I’m really, really happy. I’m just happy I didn’t go out there and completely blank on the dance and forget everything,” she told Us. “That happened to me once when I was younger in middle school, I did a dance competition and I got out there and forgot the whole entire dance. So that has just been just dawning on me the past two weeks of like, ‘Oh no, I hope that doesn’t happen.’ But I’m really happy we got this under our belt, and [I’m] excited to take on week two.”
Earle was also thrilled to have the support of her family, many of whom made the trip to Los Angeles to sit in the audience.
“My family’s everything. They’re all my best friends,” she gushed. “I think, especially as I’ve gotten older, my parents have become an extension of my friend group as well. So them coming across the country, [the] kids missing a few days of school — even though I know they’re happy to miss a few days — really means a lot to me and it’s just very special. [It’s] something I don’t take for granted.”
While there were no eliminations on night one, the September 23 episode of DWTS will feature a double elimination, which Earle feels “terrible” about.
“It’s just sad,” she explained. “Everyone is so good and talented and fun and sweet. I mean, I don’t want to be eliminated, and I don’t want anyone else to be eliminated either, so I don’t love the elimination part of all this.”
Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
