Keith Urban reportedly hinted that he and his estranged wife Nicole Kidman were headed for a divorce weeks before their split.
Dale Whiteside, a look-a-like fan of Urban’s, told TMZ in an interview published on Friday, November 22, that the country star made a comment while connecting with the fan prior to his September 15 concert in Saskatoon, Canada, that seemed to allude to the dissolution of his marriage to the Australian actress.
When Whiteside told the singer that while attending a recent music festival, he was mistaken for Urban by a couple. The only way the couple realized Whiteside wasn’t the musician, he told the outlet, was that he doesn’t wear a wedding wing or have Urban’s tattoos.
“Next time, it’ll probably be just the tattoos,” Urban reportedly told Whiteside, two weeks before news broke that Kidman and Urban were getting a divorce.
Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for Urban for comment.
Kidman filed divorce documents on September 30, one day after Us confirmed the pair had called it quits. The actress cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for a split, while also submitting a potential parenting plan, child support plan and “parenting seminar order.”
According to the docs, the parenting plan included a request from Kidman to be named the “primary residential parent” of their two children, Sunday and Faith. The plan also detailed that the girls will spend 306 days out of the year with Kidman and 59 days with Urban, including every other weekend.
According to a source who spoke exclusively to Us, while the split came as a shock to many of Us the breakup was a “long time coming.”

“Keith has moved on and has been open with Niocle about where he stands,” the insider said at the time. “The two had grown apart quietly over time, and by the end, the decision to separate was more about acceptance than surprise.”
Urban and Kidman married in 2006 in Australia — one year after they first met — and welcomed Sunday, now 17, and Faith, now 14, during their marriage. (Kidman also shares kids Isabella, 32, and Connor, 30, with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise.)
In the midst of their split, Urban wrapped up his High and Alive World Tour in Nashville on October 17, sparking affair rumors with guitarist Maggie Baugh after changing some lyrics to his song “The Fighter,” which is about Kidman. Neither Urban nor Baugh have publicly addressed the rumors, though Baugh did open up in 2017 about her decision to never date musicians.
“There’s always been a rule you can’t date the band members because what happens if we break up?” she told Piper’s Picks in 2017.
Urban ultimately removed “The Fighter” from his set list, while Baugh stopped performing with the country music star and later announced a new song, “The Devil Win,” which dropped on October 10.
According to the same source, Urban has not ruled out the possibility of finding a romantic connection with someone new in the future following his marriage to Kidman.
“[He] is not dating one person but is open and has moved on from the marriage with Nicole,” the source told Us.
