Sister Wives’ Robyn Brown and husband Kody Brown confessed to having mixed feelings about adding another sister wife to their family after three failed marriages.
During the Sunday, November 2, episode of the TLC series, Kody, 56, revealed that a woman reached out wanting to get to know him and Robyn, 47, and possibly join their family. After the initial shock wore off — Robyn was upset the woman approached him and not her as is protocol in polygamy — she got real about where she stands on the topic.
“Truth be told, for one split second, I kind of go, ‘Hmm.’ For a split second, I think, ‘Oh, wouldn’t this be great? This is what I’ve always wanted for my life,’” Robyn confessed. “And, [then I go], ‘Hmm, how would they fit?’”
Robyn, who legally married Kody in 2014 after a spiritual wedding in 2010, noted that she understands why someone would be interested in her spouse.
“When a young woman sees a married stable man that is attractive,” she told the cameras. “He’s figured out some of his bullcrap. He’s got a wife that’s happy, and he knows how to be a dad. I mean, like, I’m sorry, but that’s going to make any girl’s eggs drop.”
Robyn admitted, “Any young woman would be like, ‘Oh, he is marriageable material because he’s already married.’”
Despite understanding Kody’s appeal to other women, Robyn wasn’t exactly on board with trying polgamy again after her former sister wives, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown, all left their family. Kody, for his part, hasn’t fully healed from the breakups.
“I need to own the failure of the family. This is wise, because I was the leader,” Kody confessed. “Literally, Christine and I had come to this point where we just couldn’t figure it out. And I regret that. It’s a huge regret to me because I could have been a leader there too.”
Kody split from Christine, 53, in November 2021 after more than 25 years together. He and Janelle, 56, parted ways in December 2022 after nearly 30 years of marriage. Kody and his first wife, Meri, 54, confirmed via a joint statement in January 2023 that they were no longer together.
Through all the splits, Robyn stood by Kody’s side, but their relationship also took a hit. On Sunday’s episode, Kody showed concern that another woman would ruin their new dynamic.
“Robyn and I are talking about plural marriage, another wife hypothetically coming in, and I’m going, ‘No,’ because how you do anything is how you do everything. And we’ll screw that one up too,” Kody admitted during a confessional.
Kody then asked Robyn what she wants moving forward, saying, “I’m just trying to make the best of it here with you in our happy little kingdom. And you’re perfectly fine with being out of the polygamy thing forever?”
Robyn replied, “I’m so scared of it now, I don’t even know how I would consider it.”
Kody was surprised by her response, saying, “Well, that’s not an answer.” After a big pause, Robyn added, “That’s the only answer I’ve got. … I’m perfectly fine with you.”
Sister Wives airs on TLC Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.
